The word brandy is defined by the OED as;

...an ardent spirit distilled from wine or grapes; but the name is also applied to spirits of similar flavour and appearance, obtained from other materials.

which is actually a shortened form of the drink's original name, brandy-wine. It first appears in English as brandwine, brandewine, and brandy-wine in the 17th century. In 1640, Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher wrote in there Comedies and tragedies, "Buy any brand wine, buy any brand wine?" Ten years later in The Roxburghe Ballads, we see, "It is more fine than Brandewine, The Butterboxes' Poison."

Was Boobs banned for using "brandewine"? Its English.

I have never heard of this word, so out of curiosity I went and googled it

I too can say what I found was what @PatricStar(fish) said

Hope i dont get banned for saying this, but it seems esa admin should correct this mistake. BOOBS is an avid contributor and supporter of esa and well respected amongst the girls and punters. All the Afrikaans and African language speaking contributors seem to be trying their best to adhere to the rules, but being banned for one word seems a bit harsh and if it is to be enforced, proper investigation should be done so that esa can cover their bases. Something like this is not fair or right and should be corrected.
