A few months ago I was banned for responding and commenting in Afrikaans which is my mother tongue...going through comments today there are ladies on this exact esa commenting on this exact Afrikaans and I am wondering why they can write this language over and over and this same esa has done nothing about it... do they have more rights to write in this language than a girl of my skin colour...yes this does bother me as I've seen similar incidents on this esa before when I brought it up I was told to name the girls as I made it very clear I wasn't here to name no body and since they found me with a post in Afrikaans then it was they duty to find them too...this makes me wonder if this was and still is more acceptable from them because of colour...i can't be blamed for this as we are not the same colour and it has previously happened that people used a language that is not English previously right here and nothing was done about it...

Dear KB... don't feel alone... I was banned because I quote a Afrikaans word... that same word was used over and over again by others... so it's not about your skin colour... I too struggle with this one...

Eish...... Is Afrikaans your home language KB? I didn't know that.
It's quite ironic that this post comes from a girl with a ROAR policy.
Hope you haven't opened yourself up to lots of critisism.

Good luck girl. A formal chat with Esa might have been a better route to follow?

PS. I was also banned for using Afrikaans, and I am white, with blonde hair and blue eyes :-)

When I returned to ESA Matt made it clear to me we are not allowed to use Afrikaans at all. I found it rather strange as we were always allowed to to so in the past. I am not quite sure what transpired to bring this sudden change of rule About. As far as I know it is a set rule for all to follow.

I see ESA has added it to the list of rules at the bottom of the page.

Still quite curious as to why the sudden change of rule when it hasn't been a problem before.

Ladies if they going to change rules then that should apply those rules for everyone because we all pay the same money here...they can't choose to restrict some whilst others are not restricted for such rules...since we all pay the same amount are we to just sit back and allow such things to continue???

The rule change came along after another of our official languages, think it was Zulu, was used on a thread.

Someone lodge md a complaint with ESA and the decision was made as English only.

The reason given was there are International Users on ESA that only understand English and none of the other official SA languagues.

ESA admin did reply saying they want to match this forum with discussion forums where English only is a rule.

It's fucking hard, not to let slip with a Africaans word or slang, or some charou slang or swear words. Now I use the word MOTHERFUCKER in place of the more elegant charou slang word, lol. Can't even say SSS out loud, lol!

Btw Ahrwen, where is my cape flats style cakesisters?

Then I can understand as English is the universal language.
