Retirement is not an option financially, very few can afford it, so instead of planning to retire, I'm planning on leaving the corporate world and start that business to keep me in enough money once I've stopped the 9-5 work.

I think we should travel while we are still earning and still young. Local travel after retirement. Of course, that depends what are you retiring with? Partner/children support or not, medical covered and house paid for in full etc etc.

Punting is an extreme sport and do it while you are fit to do it(physically and mentally). A small detour now and then, if funds permit, can be taken. But not as a habit after retirement.

This is my point of view. It can differ from others'

When I was young and still working, I could not go on holiday due to work pressures. My boss would phone me whilst I was in the midst of shopping in the high street of London, Oxford street. I would have to rush to the company's London office and do what's necessary.

Sometimes I would get sick when on holiday because my body would go into shock-not being used to be on holiday.

If possible .. don't wait till retirement to enjoy life .. you may be too old and your heath not up to scratch to enjoy it !!!

Live in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest when you still able to do so !!!

Make provision for your retirement but live today as if there is no tomorrow !!!

Good advice Boobs53 , make sure you build a capital base that you free from financial worry , that will provide an income when required. I can only survive my work knowing I have a FO fund .

Big ups to you on that one. Hope you have a success when you finally get there. And then you'll be the one paying out retirement funds, yes.
