This is mahala land, the masses want everything for free. The educated and higher income earners are moving abroad so the tax base has to shrink. In the Rapport today a picture of the packs of money needed to buy a chicken in Venezuela for the equivalent of $2,22 or about R31. You needed 14,6 million Venezuela currency, and it is wheelbarrow full of money! They say prices in Venezuella now doubles every 26 days...

I have taken most of my money to EU and USA. I love it here, but i am not taking chances. That same money could have created lots of jobs here, but as long as there is so much policy uncertainty, i keep on adding to my offshore portfolio.

It is a long weekend here, and every year six of us meet up, old army buddies, and we worked out, between us all we employed 2000 staff when we lived in SA. I love SA and would comeback in a heartbeat, was planning too, but this nonsense has scared me off

I really do not blame you Tegwane. Unfortunately not all of us can flock to greener pastures. It is a sad state of affairs as we are loosing all our "key" specialists to other countries.

Some of us will have to bite the bullet.

I'm working oversea and so place my money offshore as well and only bring in what i need. I'm now going to sell my properties and get my money out as soon as I can or live off some of the proceeds and stop bringing money in. Therefore when i do come back for my R&R I'll stay in a hotel for 3 weeks!! just keep a vehicle to get around ..

The government has to many commissions of enquiry on things we know are corrupt but no one is being charged, no one goes to jail ....... It gives an impression of doing something but it seems to achieve nothing! State capture is going to take 2 years and then they "might" charge people, who in turn will appeal and appeal - the Zuma way!

SA becoming a basket case................

A couple of years ago I spoke to a Zimbabwean colleague of mine who had already been in SA for more than 10yrs and I asked him if the ANC's actions was not diabolical to the Mugabe government and he concurred, he however alarmingly stated that the ANC appeared to be moving at a more rapid pace than Zanu PF did. Scary shit I tell u. My wife would love to immigrate but I love SA and wouldn't wanna leave but if things don't change drastically in the next few years I might have to reconsider :-(

Funny, my father in law comes by my place last nite and discusses the fact that I should consider getting my family out of this country. Coincidence or Sign?? Or worse, I hope he's not on this forum
