Highheels, no doubt the legacy of apartheid still hangs omninously over our country and the redress needs to be addressed with more vigour and urgency but this thread is about what we love about our country. Maybe you should start another thread, "what i hate about South Africa" ?

Weather
Petrol attendants
Decent size houses (not those match box crap in the UK)
Affording a domestic (so no cleaning or washing ever)
Joburg thunderstorms
Those stunning Jacaranda trees blooming in spring
Springboks
Chicken Licken
Mochachos
Bunny Chows
Koeksisters
Stoney ginger beer
Biltong
Braais
Cheap haircuts from the paki/bangali guys
Being familiar with racial stereotypes

PS I think most of my list seems to be food related

You taking it the wrong way, what we love about the country is a huge unifier regardless of economic position everyone loves similar things. There is absolutely no country like SA in the world. It's easy to say we love what we love without acknowledging the fragility of what is happening in the country and yet we all appreciate the same things.

What about our wines?
Or brandy or brutal fruit.
Yes I'm a foody.
We do have the best meat in the world.
And who won't miss biltong!?
My mother tongue - language (afrikaans).

Yes we live in a beautiful country...but it's people don't appreciate what we have and take this life for granted.
Let's pray something will be left of our country for our next generation.

I'm not a proud South African anymore... but there is still a few things I can think of...

1. Mrs. Balls chutney
2. All gold tomato sauce
3. Cross and Blackwell mayonnaise
4. Biltong, biltong and more biltong
5. Lutzville wines
6. The sunshine... best weather
7. My Afrikaans culture, language and accent
8. Western Cape's beautiful beaches
9. Affordable domestic workers
10. Down to earth people
