Our employers forced us to take a salary cut due to covid when there was level 5 lockdown.

With all things a negotiation can be put on the table...no needs to accept though

You ask a question and continue to answer it yourself. Why ask it in the first place?

It's much simpler to state that your rate is not negotiable to first-time clients.

I am not suggesting you should cut your price (on first booking).
But in the private sector, the choice can be: Take a cut, or lose your job. A 10% salary cut is always better than a 100% cut (when you lose the job)....

Asked but forced to take salary cuts with some in the travel and tourism industry as much as 60% cuts.
If people had a problem with this the only option was to either leave and have no salary or accept and try make it work.

Yup plenty of people have been asked to take salary cuts throughout time. Not only during covid/lockdowns/etc. Also seen a few being asked to do more work on top of the salary cut. Just look at those poor guys and gals at Clover right now...

This lady didn't do this because business is booming, it really a case of changing to fit in with what keeps the income flowing

Back to reality, if only one was asked to take a cut in your salary...how about just being told that you do not have a job anymore as from month end...here is your final pay...the company is bankrupt! !!

I've never had an employer ask me to take a salary cut but... having said that, eskom, landlord,nail technician, lingerie shop,hairdresser etc doesn't offer cuts either. People tend to forget what it costs SP's to maintain a certain standard.

This post reminds me of the gent that offered me R800 less than I would usually charge for an hour... Never spoken to the guy before...
