Assuming this is a conspiracy, it would require so many people to be involved that it would be next to impossible to keep it a secret.
Bain couldn't keep their dirty laundry a secret
Facebook can't keep their shenanigans a secret
Maddox couldn't be kept a secret
Almost every country, across various departmental structures would have to be in on it to fake something on this scale.
But you never know. You may be right and we've all been brainwashed by the hype. Now where did I put my tinfoil hat?

Boss, when I said get help I wasn't being snarky. This type of behaviour is either the result of deep, unresolved trauma, or a neuro-chemical imbalance. Please, for the sake of those around you, have a convo with your doc. I am not a professional, and I hope I'm wrong.
