I am of the opinion that its not just "whites" that are guilty of this.

Japanese are the only people I have came accross that really do take pride in their race, culture, etc.

So I read him to say roar=racism.
That is attacking the lady for her preferences. In doing so making racism on her part the reason for not seeing him rather than owning that she just does not want to see him.
In another way: you may not be what she wants regardless of colour. So to call roar racism is playing the victim
