Intimacy is about so much more than sex. It's intimate conversation. It's compliments. It's hugging and touching. Laughing with someone, being validated and comforted when you're upset.

It's being able to be your self even when being yourself means you're depressed.

I have met many people who are so lonely and longing, but they are in relationships.

Even if the experience is paid for, it can be a benefit, even if it's fake. Touch, comfort, laughing etc can all benefit a person.

Even if something is superficial, there may still be authentic moments in a paid for service.

Is mental health physciatry a science or part of medical or both. What about emotions?. What about our general nature?,our personalities, our built in qualities.phsyciatry is scary is there really a thing like bipolar ,schizophrenia or is it locked away in each of us waiting to be unleashed?.

Kingkk

Psychology is a science. It comes down to nature vs nurture.

Some people are born with it, some develope them as a result of their upbringing.

This is a deep and necessary thread. People should be able to talk openly about mental health. Some years ago it would have been a taboo subject on this forum. Applaud those for sharing. It just shows again you cannot judge as you never know what someone is dealing with.

And suppress as a coping mechanism but manifests in other ways and conditions

As humans we all want the same things that nurture is and when had you feel energised.

I think as one gets older as well things become more real

You're not longer in your immortal 20s

Questions about existence, purpose and self become more urgent

Religions are practiced more fervently or the brave question deeper at the expense of their
Sanity

Ultimately everything just IS

It's to find comfort somehow, in that.

I'm at a point where Peace of Mind is Paramount.

Feeling accepted and appreciated, seen. Hate being ignored lol

Psychology and psychiatry...similar yet dissimilar.

As a psychologist if one is of the opinion that a patient may be a danger to oneself and may need medical assistance then a psychiatrist would be brought on board...medically trained practitioners that deal with issues of a deeper mental challenge.

What is it that may open pandora's box and reveal the most human part of self, the most vulnerable insecure part we ALL possess.

What is it that some possess while others don't , that makes them less susceptible to pain and loss and insecurities and doubts and fears of one's own mortality or shortcomings for, we ALL possess them, not pushing them to the edge of depression, angst...?

Those suffering from dementia or schizophrenia , a genetic disorder?...a chromosome missing or...too much?...the medical science an ever search to understand the human wiring ....putting it down to chemical imbalances....a pill here a pill there...a numbing of nerves.

I do believe like seanc has said, the passing of time brings forth realizations but, different for all for, mine may be a nostalgic pang that brings forth a tear , remembering the fondest and nicest...while another's person's may be a hankering for opportunities lost, sufferings one allowed oneself that become an unbearable heartache, a need to "fix it" in a manner that one feels one was cheated of.

The more nurturing ones surrounding are, the easier it becomes to accept the inevitable realness we all have to face.

The more we buy into the fickle ways of the global society, the greater the risk of feeling cheated and dissatisfied....leading to challenging darkness of mind.

And of course there are deeper more serious mental issues that cannot be addressed with sweeping statements as the ones i have made above.

We all possess that innate understanding of what may be good or bad for us but, has mankind ever made it easy for oneself...?...to play to a bigger audience all the time forgetting to be kind to self and stand steadfast in selfish self love...because if one does not have that then it is very difficult to love another as one would like that other to love one.

Be kind to self....we are all at the mercy of much around us and yet, have the resilience to work it in our favour when the going gets unbearable. ....and always made easier with the right people around one.

It is not a weakness to reach out...it is not a weakness to seek solace in the company of any other who knows how to remind you that you are OK...and...it will be OK.

Strength!

RB.

You are definitely not alone buddy. My life will sound like a story if I can relate. I did find love in here and it is very beautiful. She is no longer a WG not because of me, her choice. With regards to depression, my partner dismissed me and makes light of my problem even today. She is never interested in my feelings, whenever I try to express my feelings it eventually turns into being about her.
I have gone through counselling which turned me into a very analytical and philosophycal person and made me fully aware and conscious of everything in my mind.
I take my hat off to the WG's whom I have visited who have helped me in my journey of healing and dealing with my problems unkwowing to them. Punting has helped me in a way I could not imagine it would(not that I am promoting it).
