Miabhai's consider themselves superior to other castes because they believe they are descended from the Mughals, who were Afghanistani Muslims.
The only caste that was not converted from Hindu to Moslem.

Personally i dont take any of the shit our generation, our parents and grandparents generations were preoccupied with. The under 30's generation seem to be more integrated and accepting of one another. Ive been to a wedding in March where the boy was Kokni and the girl Memon. Totally unheard of just a generation ago.

Ek het van my ma uitgeval... and my afrikaans is shocking, I had to retype that 3 times to get the spelling right.

In Nepal we called the older guys Dhai... this is why I asked... the young girls were called Bhaini... excuse the probably terrible spelling.

I was totally unaware of these social caste intricacies but I became interested in the Indian social strata, when a friend pointed at someone in awe, and whispered to me:
"Did you know he's a Kanam?"
I said "really? "
"So what" which not a little annoyed him.

I've heard my Muslim friends talk about this before but never really understood it, just knew that there were differences. Who knew I would understand it from a punting forum thanks @ben and @ash1.

Indians have too many issues; caste, Hindi or Tamil, fair skinned is better than dark skin. But Ben is right, things are changing the new generation is different.

This morning at Fajr time one of my Memon buddies whatsapped me the following joke:

The other candidate answers
'Allah ji bow mehrbani aai bhaa!'

And I thought just our race issues in SA where enough of a problem!!
