Hi Gents, filed my returns today and they require an audit #FML... Anyway I haven't been keeping a logbook. What's the easiest way to go about it?

Claim at least a third of your total km as "private"

Trust me on this one.

Does your vehicle have a tracker unit? If so, log in and run a logbook report.
70/30 split on business vs personal use

Else if desperate, just "create" one.
Try keep it as plausible as possible based on meetings in your calendar

Your Google maps also has a timeline so you can see when u visited your clients

And don't do anything stupid like accidently say u visited clients in a Sunday (unless you can justify)

@TheMuff and Jo-Mo why so much private?
I would think that one would get a better return if more KM was business?
(I don't know any better I'm merely asking)

This is quite useful and be sure to have a 2023 calender open when completing the logbook. I have made the mistake in the past of claiming bussiness travel on a public holiday.

I just done mine.. opening and closing km..
Report from tracking device.. all weekend travel and when on leave marked personal, got about a 55 business, 45 pvt split..
Hope I don't get audited, the payout may allow me to indulge in the purple world a good couple of times !!!!
This is always a bonus.. unlike last year when I had to pay in.. :-( ...
This year looks alot more promising !!!
