....and know that all the clapping has taken place, the criticisms as to the Presidents speech shared, political analysis done and forecasts of what should, could, might take place

....let us watch.

But, in watching , not forget our civic responsibilities as good citizens to keep the momentum and hope going and focus on growth, sustainability and holding the criminals accountable meaning, those among us as citizens and those elected to serve for country its people.....meaning US.

A meths lab in Groblersdal busted...

R340m worth of drugs intercepted on garden route...

R300m drug bust in fourways...

Suspected Training military base in Mmpumalanga....

"TheDepartment of Correctional Servicesand SAPS officers raided the infamous Sun City prison in Soweto, south of Johannesburg, on 24 July. The raid addressed the smuggling of contraband and prisoners 'soft life.' " - quoted

"...It is estimated that there are millions of victims; though only about 50--100,000 cases are found each year. The University of Johannesburg reports that trafficking occurs at a slightly higher rate for girls than boys, with 55.5% of all trafficked people in South Africa being female, and 44.5% being male...."- quoted

...of which the latest stats say 33% in SA is children trafficking...

As to all other henious crimes...

These things ain't an overnight occurrence. These things have set route in a law abiding society under the so called watchful eye of various portfolio minister.

The hat man Bheki Cele should be held accountable by society for turning a blind eye to corrupt police officials, the tacit support of criminals by allowing them to bribe their way out of jail or being held accountable.

Imagine how many lives of children, women and men may have been spared in various ways if those ministers and their lazy inadequate selfish thieving crew were truly in servitude to country and people.

Too early to tell if the country is on a trajectory of regaining power from the criminals that have held the citizens of SA at ransom.

But maybe things will change especially if the following holds water...

"The signing into law of the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Bill willestablish an Investigating Directorate against corruption as a permanent entity within the NPA. The Investigating Directorate against corruption will be a permanent, prosecution-led agency with full criminal investigative powers."- quoted

Such great excitement when Shamila Batohi was elected many moons ago as Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions.

Maybe now she will be able to do her job. Time for her to wield the power she has.

A new broom can sweep the floor, but an old broom knows where the dirt is.

...and in that light.

Seems A GNU was required to allow at least the beginning of a "sweep" of what all and sundry knew and, should have been done many moons ago.

I wonder if this move holds any water.

Back to the sweeping of brooms;
it's an unfortunate evident reality that what is playing out at National and Provincial level with the GNU has very little effect at the local government level.
Sitting, as I am, in a small KZN town where an unpubliced municipal strike is in its fourth week and amongst other failings we've had no refuse collection for 4 weeks - one has to sadly admit that the appalling lack of Service Delivery is going to be with us for some time yet... if ever it will be turned around.

How the political playing field has taken twists and turns one would never have imagined since the elections in May.

Still an unknown as to the hopeful success of the GNU.

But apart from the glaring issues that have been swept under the carpet since the dawn of "democracy " and will take money, positive political alliances, accountability, diligence, professionalism and expertise and good citizenshipfrom all of us...time, many shake-ups dare give one hope....even an iota is better than nothing.

From smaller political parties being dissolved by their leaders ( f#ck the supporters) to join the MK,

To Floyd Shivambu leaving Juju to pretend the eff is still on sound footing

To Gayton Mckenzie chopping heads left, right and center

To extradition of ESKOM tender fraud amounting to billions , Michael Lomas

To R1bn tender fraud case against Malusi Booi

To Sport Minister Zizi Kodwa being arrested for allegedly receiving R1.7 million bribe

To....

To....

....so much more.

And then

The passing of anc stalwart Pravin Gordhan.
The eulogy speech given by Ramaphosa , every word spoken, was worthy of a listen.

It is not easy being a politician...most definitely not in SA.

Me...I am looking fwd to the changes that I truly hope and believe can still come.

One battle at a time.

UN AGM and Ramaphosa in the big apple.

...talking to billionaire South African born Elon Musk with prospects of future economic investments etc.

It took a GNU to get Ramaphosa to consider acknowledging one of his own ...I mean South Africans.

Mmmmm.....
