I've studied enough comparative religion to know that bar one religion and a certain sect of Islam, all religion sees sex outside of marriage as a sin. The punters pretending to be indignant to individuals having sex in a "holy" place are probably the worst of hypocrates since they sin against their imaginary sky daddy as well but pass judgment on others. The height of irony, guy gets some fucking pussy in a holy place his kind goes into uproar, the same kind who don't condemn their other compatriots killing innocent people in acts of terror in their deity's name.

VP - I fully agree with you. It is religion that is holding us back as a species, and btw, the deity in the monotheistic religions is always a He. But it seems that many atheists, and particularly the militant atheists, believe that just because they donot believe in an "imaginary sky daddy" they are the epitome of rational thinking and love and respect.

My experience with them though is that they are often a bunch of smarmy arseholes! There are many atheists who are quite 'religious' in their views and as just 'evangelical'!

And yes: there are, and have always been religious crazies through history who killed and maimed in the name of God - but the underlying reasons are usually overwhelmingly a battle over land or resources. It is easy to blame Islam for example when evidence overwhelmingly shows that the origins of ISIS are from CIA attempts at regime change in Syria and their backing of Al Qaeda elements (who they created btw). This is just one example where a western and global superpower used regional or local actors to fight a proxy war to further their own geopolitical aims while whipping saud proxy army into a religious fervour.
