There are so many reasons ladies can appear lighter or darker in photos than they actually are in real life.

Overhead floresent lights, natural lights, choice of clothing color, camera settings like the exposure, warm or cold hues, saturation etc.

Once appon a time i had a photoset or two that made my skin look a lot darker than it naturally is and with wet curly hair that looked more brownish than red in photos, I got asked on more than one ocacasion if i was colored.. that confused the crap out of me, untill i took a good look at my photos.

From then on I made a point of asking photographers to change the exposure in their camera settings so my skin could look a bit more like my natural skin colour, which is very pale to say the least.

(And that exposure setting might have just been set differently because they did an outdoor shoot just before my indoor shoot and me turning out darker was not intentionally done)

There aint always a deceptive reason for things being what they are.. sometimes its just as simple as setting on a camera or a very bright overhead floresent light or lack of enough light.
