Sorry Smirnoff, you're wrong - terrrribly sorry to say!
You see, posing a Q must (MUST) have one correct answer possible, I'm sure you'll agree with me.

1 (your top/OP)) 'he knew because he himself was the murderer' is a very correct answer in the context: he'd been there and knew most if not all of the rapport was hogwash.

And your last one's easy, even I know - question mark ...

Sherlock Holmes breaks down a locked door to a crime scene. The victim is slumped dead on a chair and has a bullet wound to his head. A gun lies on the floor and a cassette recorder is found on the table. On pressing the play button, Sherlock hears the message 'I have committed sins in my life and now I offer my soul to the great lord....following a gunshot.

Sherlock smiles Of-course its a murder.

Why did he think so?

A man booked a hiking trip out of state for himself and his wife. But only the husband returned from the vacation and said that his wife slipped off the mountain while climbing and fell to her death.

On investigating, the local police arrested him saying, “We spoke to your travel agent and you are being arrested for murdering your wife.”

How did the police conclude that he murdered his wife?

The man bought only a one way ticket for his wife whereas he bought a two way ticket for himself. It means that he was sure that he will be returning alone.
