Once decriminalised, it opens a whole can of worms....mostly for the women.

That being said I do what change for ladies in this industry but it does not come from decriminalisation, it's not a silver bullet.

Agree with @Theand 100%....It will cause a whole new set of problems and people (private and public) trying to get a finger in the pie (excuse the pun).

Decriminalizing the profession may give them access to certain things, but the social stigma will still be their emotional/societal burden.

They should be allowed non disclosure of their profession and the professional listed as non-criminal activity.

Wonder what the ladies think?

I have always said.

Decriminalised or even legalized....I wonder how many ladies, including myself , will put on their cv...

I am a decriminalised and legalised sex worker when applying for a lease or bond or hp on a motor vehicle, an overdraft facility, a position in a company...sitting in a social gathering with others and asked "what do u for a living?"

"Uhhmmm...I am into investments."

Like most punters who walk across our doors are accountants and into IT.

As to the law assisting aggrieved sex workers....hey , if women in broader society get raped and beaten and accused of looking for it...then what chance does a sex worker stand reporting a crime.

Personal care as to medical support...well, in my opinion if a sex worker does not look after herself medically anyway, why would she if decriminalisation takes place.

A mindset change needs to kick in and NOT from the public BUT from the sex workers themselves first...and once that happens then much easier convincing a biased society that sex workers are less of a "taboo" among them.

...and the law can kick in for the right reasons.

But heck...just reading the punters views on this forum on sex workers, what hope is there?

Banks, insurance companies and health insurance will look at WG and create a risk profile. TLDR You will be high risk.

High Interest Rates + High Premiums = Increased Opex

Suddenly, that R800/Hour is now R2000/hour.
Suddenly there will be a quick dwindle of clientele.
So essentially WG are still fucked but the irony being they are getting proper fucked by what is meant to protect and improve their situation.
And despite all this change will create another form of black market.
And then to top it all off, TAXES.

Addendum and NOT because it ain't legal BUT because I know how i shall be judged.

Imagine I said

"I 'fuck' men for a living"....mind u mistresses do it anyway and it ain't illegal being a mistress yet, she will keep it under wraps...why?

Decriminalisation works in other countries such as Australia.

But, for instance, some banks with puritan CEOS do discriminate so most would use an euphenism for their income.

But laws will protect the rights of sex workers to having bank accounts, bonds and investments.

And they will have rights not to be raided or discriminated against by the police or the law.

Ladies will need to increase prices by at least 40%+ 15% as they will be expected to pay tax and VAT - if they go legit.
