I prefer to do things the rest of the year and not on the so called Valentines day or women's day, when things are expected they are not appreciated, do thing whenever you want not when society says.....

@ johndoe67za...for the most part I share your sentiment, as I do feel that days like Vday are commercialized to no end.I do feel however, that expectation shouldn't override appreciation. If an effort was made, regardless of how big or small it should be appreciated, as the person giving the gesture thought of you when it was made....

That's the problem... being spoilt and then taking it for granted... sadly, I think most people have had such experiences somewhere along the line. One can't help but feel slightly jaded then...
