There's nothing wrong with working on your period. In some countries women work right up until they ready push. Give birth cut the umbilical cord. Nurse the baby for a few minutes, swaddle and strap the baby to their backs and return to work.
My personal view when in comes "To the red Ferrari parked in the garage". I am honest and say I have my periods. Too me it is unhygenic and I am sure clients appreciate the honesty.
