A sharaabi is indeed a contemptible creature compared to one who indulges in the pardonable sin of zina to which every man is susceptible.

To me the smell of sharaab is nauseating.
But I respect those who indulge in it.

@PeterBucks sharaab/sharaabi direct translation means intoxicated from alcohol. In Sufi composition means intoxicated by love for beauty, purity of devotion and serving your "Beloved" passionately.
