Mr Matini you may see it as stupid I see it as investing in my future I don't want to be an escort forever due to having a pty it has helped open many doors I could build my credit record up with out asking clients to make fake payslips for me I have a credit card and clothing accounts and the day I want to open a real business I can go to my bank and ask for financial help so I don't believe in just living from day to day I may work from a lodge but weekends I got to my own place not a rented place

Considering how many people work overseas on contract it is quite easy to never have to pay anything to SARS.
If you spend more then X amount of days out of the country you do not need to pay SARS on your income. I submit full copies of my passport and all my ticket stubs every year when i do my submission and also request a tax clearance after the tax period to ensure that no issues come up later....
Of course, I still pay VAT on purchases and the taxes on property and such but that is a lot less then then 45% of my salary.
For spending only 60 days in the country the tax man certainly gets enough from me.

@ Maledis - I think your question is really not a bad one. It just came out the wrong way. It is really not any punter's concern, it is a government issue. There have been a lot of rhetoric in government circles about this issue in the past. I am not up to speed with progress made thus far. As @muffman69 and @jackharris80 have indicated, it is an extremely complex process which cannot be entertained before a legal framework and processes are put in place.
