The big mistake you made was giving them that "what the fuck are you looking at" look.
Just asking the idiots for trouble.

Hehe...my "what the fuck are you looking at look" is NOT all that impressive. No...they saw me coming...didnt even have to look at them.

Happened to me as well driving out of Gold Reef City ,had 2 vodkas earlier in the evening plus dinner and water so thought I was fine ,the guy also spun me the yarn of how a kak place it is for a decent guy like me to be locked and if he tests me and I fail this what will happen ,Told him I was comfortable for the test which I did and he fiddled with the machine and eventually said I was slightly over to my dis belief .Anyway was quite curteous and polite and just asked him how we can sort the problem out .I had a grand in my pocket but told him I had nothing ,he said I must go check what my lady friend had ,got 150 off her and he waved me good bye telling me not DUI in future .I was not a nice experience ,so these days I just refrain or Uber

Actually giving them attitude is better. The best solution is to never put yourself in such a situation in the first place because if you do you give them the upper hand in the situation.

Being submissive to them gives them authority and power to abuse which they will take advantage of unscrupulously. This is Africa. Don't forget in Africa it's not called bribery , it's called gift giving and that's according to our leaned president.

I generally respond with attitude to the pigs, they are always looking for a bribe. I generally cajole them out of giving me a fine or having to pay a bribe. I would rather take a R500 fine than give them a R50 bribe.

- always have a dash cam
- record convo on your phone ( audio) without them knowing
- deny deny deny

These 'pigs' also target people based upon the flashy cars they drive. I thankfully still have my very old Toyota which I use strictly as my punting car. Was once stopped after leaving a strip joint, to my surprise the 'pig' enquired if I'm selling the car. After a friendly exchange of ' loving' old cars, I gave him a hogwash of wrong details and continued merrily on my way.
