Afrikaans is an official language in South Africa and being addressed inbthe language is acceptable. You may politely tell a person You do not understand them or you can pull yoir finger out and use Google translate. I am currently purchasing items from an Italian website, a language I do not comprehend but using Google translate am getting what I need
