I think on the bus, it is also required to present your original ID.

JackRabbit. Hope you dont mind, but since this is a Travel Doc thread:

My US Visa only expires is 2 years time, but my passport expires this year June. Do I reapply for the Visa if Im going to the US later this year and going to renew my passport?

In some countries you need 6 months validity period on your passport. Best bet is to phone the US Consulate's office in Sandton.

.. no need to reapply.
Usually old and new passports are linked in the system.
Just as a precaution, clarify this with the plocal us consulate office, after you get your new passport.
.As long as you're not of Mexican descent, you should be okay.

Thanks semensquirter. Ill call just to make sure from the US consulate. Luckily their systems work...if I have to reapply. Dont think Im Mexican...I dunno..

Keep your old passport when you apply for the new passport. You have to present both passport when traveling as proof of the Visa.

Happened to me a few years ago, but always best to confirm with US Embassy if it is still valid.

Monozuk...that makes sense ja. Thanks. I had some thoughts of "Steaming of" the Visa and paste it in the new passport....but probably one of my kakker plans..
