@Mike40 Played for Parkhurst U10 vs Southern Suburbs as a curtain raiser to one of the big cup finals at Rand Stadium, it was huge at that age, could not reach the halfway line with goal kicks then.Do you remember Plumb Crazy nightclub and the White Horse Inn and the only 24hr shop Fontana for late night chicken

Used to listen to 5FM all day long...and David Gresham with the late night hit parade. Camel pyramid of light, and everyone smoking camel lights. When it was still safe to hitchhike...especially in your browns.

We used to make a guitar out of an empty oil tin or an empty washing powder box (OMO or Surf). We would cut a circle right in the centre, cut another piece on top to insert a long plank of wood, then use rubber bands for the strings. Sing songs only a child would know, no matter how out of tune the song was, the guitar made sense.

Drumming on large jam cans.

I tell you, we always had to wait in anticipation till all cans and boxes were empty before they get disposed.... lmao

I didn't mind being the last one to empty out all the bits of jam that was left.

Rubbish, recycled and reused.
