Companionship (in the broader sense) is extremely expensive. Takes time, commitment and sacrifice. In comparison, sex by the hour is way more affordable.

But in the bigger scheme, the investment (companionship/ partnership) can have a bigger return. If I look at my own life; I am who I am today because of my mother and my wife. My mom made sure I had a good start, and my wife multiplied that investment by 20 fold. Not cheap, but way more valuable than a hour of sex (which is much like a meal at a fancy restaurant - nice indulgence, good memory, but that's it).

Sex is also better in a committed relationship. It matures over time and you get to learn every part of your companion, getting better and better over time (at least in the first decade or two). The challenge is, if you try to recreate this with sex by the hour ... then it gets very expensive (due to the many hours needed) and most likely not have any return on investment (due to lack of common goals, commitment and sacrifice needed to achieve such).

Ok now I'm just blabbering ...
