So we've seen a number of threads regarding ESA's strict English language policy but I wondered in a formal petition might confirm the sentiment of the members.

My proposal would be to amend the policy to something along the lines of:

"English is the preferred language for the forum.

Members are discouraged from posting in other languages especially where such posts are deemed to be for the purpose of deliberately alienating and confusing other members.

Management reserves the right to temporarily or permanently ban members that disregard this policy."

Should you agree with the proposal - please comment as such. Should there be a positive response - hopefully Eddie will take this into consideration.

My 2 cents

I have no problem with ESA enforcing english as the preferred language for posting on the forum.....but....to ban people for using a "non-english" word in an otherwise all english sentence is taking it a bit far. Some if these words are uniquely South African and used by all races and cultures as a type of slang. This is the way South Africans speak and express themselves

For example...the word BBQ does not exist in South Africa...the word that is used for this by all South African is uniquely South African and we should be able to use this word without the fear of being banned.

There are many other examples like this

I support this as well. You've hit the nail on the head. No problem with an English only forum, but be REALISTIC is all. One word in the wrong language is definitely not a good enough reason to ban somebody.

The Honourable Member is cruising for a bruising.

5 rupees bet you gonna get banned for "being disruptive" and "attempting to rally visitors".

Support this... Colloquialisms and other commonly understood words, phrases and expressions should be allowed
