Simple exercise ....

I think Mo is from a foreign country, and he's simply making a polite enquiry rather than spending hard-earned bucks on international phonecalls. (Even though I suspect that he's from a country with some of the lowest phonecall rates in the world)

If I were travelling to the USA, I'd also prefer to get some iformation from some locals before I started making phonecalls.

Of course, I could be wrong. Mo might be a lazy bas**rd from Durban who can't be bothered to make a few calls.
