On my way home tonight gliding on the N1 as if there were wet tar stuck to my tyres, I thought of a post I made, a little more than a year ago.

Da link: www.esa.co.za/forum/pagerouter.php

The post is a bit gloomy and although I still believe most of it, I also think one cannot just make like an ostrich and stick your head where the sun doesn't shine.

Since the writing of that post I have accumulated some extra scars. This castle is battle ridden for sure. But you know what, it's good to have a maintenance contract with yourself to repair the damage. It takes time and a lot of introspection, but where there is hope there is light. Always stay positive and remember you are exactly where you are supposed to be in this moment in time. Nothing ever stays the same, the bad and the good.
Everything is gonna be alright...

MrShyGuy... scars are the maps of journeys taken and lessons learnt...as unpleasant as they are, they are needed to mold us into better people than we were before.
I like that you have a maintenance contract with yourself- that's certainly something a lot of us should consider.

Thank you dearest Syren, much appreciated. I totally agree with you.
What doesn't break us, makes us stronger. It is our choice how to respond to life.

By your favour Mr Shy... allow me a metaphor in retort?

Sometimes when a Castle is battle ridden and devastated it is rebuilt by people who cherish it and look to it for protection and warmth.

Then this Castle stands even more glorious and majestic than ever before!

Everything is going to be alright indeed...

Wise words GK. Much appreciated. Time is the best medicine. Just to add, it helps to learn to like yourself again.

Onwards and upwards!

A lot of the times we are our own worst enemies good sir. Once you make peace with yourself you are free...

At it again, thinking...

Some castles are earmarked as national heritage site, meaning the building or asset is governed by the state. This usually means the building is turned into a museum and cannot be occupied.

It is so hard not to become jaded and negative, thinking you should rather just keep you castle under "state" protection where the occupants are at a minimum.

Guess I'll have to upgrade my maintenance plan...

Mt Shy

As it happens I am at present visiting some old castles dating a while back. Whilst not National Museums, they are in good order, and people are actually living in them.

They have an inordinate number of guests coming through them, so I guess what I am saying is that you should use the castle and not let it rot.

Open it up and let people experience the wonders of your castle. Thinking about a guided tour ????

Cheers
