I've been hearing a lot about this place. I would like to check it out but I'm a bit apprehensive seeing as its in Hillbrow of all places. Has anyone been there? is it safe? how would you rate it?

I used to enjoy the company of some beautiful girls in their flats around Hillbrow in the late '80's , early nineties - then take a stroll to Exclusive Books just around the corner. And then go for ice-cream at Milky Lane.
Then browse in antique shops in the area ....

So , pray , answer me : WHY has Hillbrow deteriorated ?

Last time I visited was about 4 years ago it really went down badly. I used to go there regularly in the late 80's and 90's. It was great then so later in the 90's it just gone down. So never went back.

About 4 years ago I was curious and thought maybe the club improved but was very disappointed. The entrance fee has gone sky high but nothing really to see to excite you. The girls were very poor ( quality) and hardly look sexy. Even Royal Park Hotel is much better than this Summit Club (sorry no offence to the owner).
Will I return? No!

there are several deteriorated rundown suburbs in jhb south, west and pta that are predominantly white(poor white), so whats your point?

I don't know too much about the history of the place, so I really can't say, for some or other reason it seems to be a safe haven for criminals...perhaps its because its the red light district of joburg and has been so for a while. who better for drug dealers to target than prostitutes and their clients? the market is there. I think if you dig deeper, you will find that the blacks there are not the only criminals there, I wont say more.
