This is not about WHY we punt but rather what excuses we use to get away from home or office and not answer the phone for an hour (plus travel time). There are only so many client meetings, dentist appointments and flu-shots going around and yet some of you manage to punt weekly. I am not prepared to kick the dog so I can drop Max at the vet while I visit my favourite lady, but I am open to some clever ideas if you don't mind sharing. Without a family or work colleagues asking about your whereabouts (and with a large enough bank balance) I can see how you do this. Some of you travel a lot for work. Some of you don't have families. But what is everyone else's secret?

I travel a lot and use the opportunity to punt between meetings .. a spur in the moment kind of punter !!!

Yes travel for work is the perfect excuse. And I suppose you could ignore the phone and afterwards claim you were meeting with a client and could not answer.

Thank goodness you won't get to that extent... well... I call my Sunday Punters my Builders warehouse punters... they will say they need swimming pool equipment, braai equipment... paint... whatever doesnt appeal to the wife... believe me... as long as the swimming pool is clean she wont ask about mew equipment... its Sunday and your a good guy right?

I have tried that a few times. Only problem is Builders Warehouse is so useless it takes an hour to buy the paint/pool/maintenance stuff leaving no time for the actual reason behind the trip. So now I buy the stuff from Builders and the next day I put it back in my car so I have a car-load of paint as evidence of where I was. A bit sneaky but hey, 'Hello, I am Sam and I am an addict'.

Hmmmm... or Builders was sooooo extremely busy... after no service and finally standing in the line for half an hour you decided to rather leave and come back on another day... bawahahaha... but your idea is brilliant :)))

I am not sharing my secret!

I am always looking at cars in the showrooms. Like woman can never get enough of the latest fashion or jewelry, i can look at new cars over and over and over again. My wife find cars as boring as hell - so i always have the perfect excuse over weekends to sneak away to look at cars. She is quite happy not to have to come along!

And i often work late - just not always at the office! LoL!
