The ANC going into coalition with the MK and/or EFF is a scary thought, and unfortunately a reality. The fact of the matter is the MK (and the EFF for that matter) are just a bunch of disgruntled ex-ANC members. In particular the MK are people that just recently left the ANC and a tie up with them would seem likely. Their manifesto is seriously scary - nationalise everything, scrap the constitution, give power to traditional leaders and throw out the western "Roman-Dutch" law system and bring back indigenous law. Basically state capture again but this time legal and on a ginormous scale and taking us to the dark ages of ancient laws and failed communists/socialist policies.

The ANC vultures will have to sit with these MK and EFF hyenas and see what is left to share of the almost empty carcass that is SA. Scary times ahead.

The ANC is between a rock and hard place, as the saying goes.

1. Side with those that left and pretty much be burdened by them again (which will be bad for our country), or

2. Side with the DA for the sake of unity and stability. But then they will be seen as 'sell outs'

Either way they looking at less than 40% in the next election.

Personally, I think the ANC should sit this one out and become the official opposition.

They were all the same party. It will just be kissing and making up.

For all we know, it could have been the strategy all a long to give an option to their disgruntled voters to vote somewhere else without actually losing their votes to the real opposition. And when it's needed like now possibly, they have them to merge despite what the voters think as usual. As long as they stay in power.

ANC + MK + EFF will be close to two thirds, they can add a tiny party to get them there and they can change the Constitution and implement radical reforms. Picture an EFF minister heading land and agriculture, an MK cadre running the defence force and Zuma's cronies finally getting their hands on the Reserve Bank. It's a very dangerous scenario.

They will never side with the DA, I've seen comments by educated middle to upper class ANC supporters in the last two days questioning the DA's increase in votes saying that it is young black people that do not realise that the DA will take us back to Apartheid. Imagine how the poor less educated will feel if the ANC sided with the DA. They'll feel completely sold out. Some things are just taboo for ANC supporters and the DA has not made it any better for themselves to change that mindset.

Well, Kzn is fucked...cleary very low IQ people living there. Or is tribalism still big there?

My heart breaks for kzn.

One of my most favorite destinations in SA.

Being in Durban at the time of the various manifesto launches

First eff
Then anc
Then mk
Then IFP....

The feel among the supporters was very different.

To address your tribalism comment...

The one that had me forget that it was actually a " political rally" was,the IFP manifesto launch at the Moses Mobide stadium.

The culture, the tradition the custom much stronger than the idea that politics was the reason for the huge gathering.

I was carried away by the passion of those who chanted, sang and danced and wondered could there be a marrying of all of that with politics and governance of a country

This deep set passion and love of ones traditions....could it be inclusive of all and accepted by all?

Factions.

Tribalism....and much more.

All I know is,that on that day it just didn't feel political at all and rather traditional.

.....

As to the mk...

I cannot understand their success considering their meeting point and end point on the day of the manifesto launch was at capellos in umhlanga, and if there were 10 cars in the car brigade was too much and the attendance of their launch was an absolute disaster..where have all these so called supporters crawled out of...?

Like the ladies who claim to be punters on this site....so I get a feeling many an underhanded shenanigans is on the go here.

.....

As to low IQ...I think it is about time one addresses the importance of free flow of communication and education as to what a vote really means and why it is important.

And thus in the same breath to pose the question...

Those that didn't vote?

Does one label them low of IQ too?

Lazy?

Sellouts?

What?...for those people have NO excuse not to vote and help build a better future for future generations.

RB.

No Zulu representation in the ANC top 7 has led to MK run away victory in KZN. Ignoring the majority is never a good idea.

The counter argument, then why not IFP. There is no charasmatic leader within the IFP, someone that can promise you the "world" while screwing you over in real terms.

The MK has indicated its willingness to collaborate with the ANC if Ramaphosa resigns. Ramaphosa wanted to resign in 2023 already because Phala Phala but the party stopped him. So Ramaphosa leaving is a reality. His enemies in the ANC who are still sympathetic to the REF faction will push for him to take accountability for the worst performance of the party in elections so far. They will appoint someone that is a lot more sympathetic towards the REF crowed but still a but not too radical not to scare the markets too much, not that it will matter a tie up with the MK will be the nail in the coffin and send investors running and the Rand take a massive tumble. But that is the only option for the ANC to hold onto some power and potentially bounce back in the next elections. Forming a coalition with the DA will boost investor confidence and strengthen the Rand immediately but will alienate ANC supporters to join the MK and other parties in their masses and be the death of the ANC come the next elections. That is not an option for the ANC. So we are truly fucked.

Paul Mashitile is waiting to be sworn in. Things are getting hot for him, law enforcement is circling, becoming president will be a lifeline. They'll immediately start hollowing out law enforcement agencies again .
