Only the really old people will remember this -
1. There was no local hit parade, we had to listen the LM hit parade on a Sunday night. (David Davies was the DJ.)
It was on LM radio from Mozambique.

2. Springbok Radio - Squad Cars, Mark Saxon, Money or the Box (Bob Courtney) The Creaking door, The Loudspeaker Show.

There was actually a top 20 on Springbok Radio 11pm on Friday nights.
Another interesting thing I remember is that on Sundays the advertisements on Springbok Radio had no music. Just the voices endorsing the products.

Buying the Citizen newspaper in the morning and booked a girl using the landline. No idea what to expect or what she looks like or the place you venturing into. These days punters are so spoiled with modern technology.

I agree @Fly by Nite. I think it was more exciting. You read the ad and made the best of it. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and some times you didn't. Lol!

@Mike40 now that is a walk down memory lane!

Remember those days when you used to purchase coupons and you left it on the veranda. Then you had milk, orange juice and guava juice delivered early in the morning in glass bottles.

...and we used to be returning from nightclubs, just as the juice was being delivered...I recall taking a few swigs from some of those bottles.
Fresh orange juice was a good re-hydrater , after a long night of boozing.
