Lol, I think taste changes over time. I used to drink brandy neat mainly. Loved the taste and also hated whiskey and beer. Felt the same way you do about it. Now probably haven't touched brandy in probably 10 years but I like the taste of many whiskeys and drink beer in between. Also used to down any kind of rum including Stroh 80 like it's going out of fashion. Now can't stand the stuff unless it's in a mix of some sort.

It is true that a lot of people drink whiskey for the image. Especially people who 'come into money'(read corrupt politicians or thieving students). But I really enjoyed the taste. Not all whiskeys, but some are gooood.

Also can't wrap my taste buds around whiskey. Only drink it when I have to and then sip whole night on one.

Yip, a lot are not good. But the good are goooood.

Good whiskey is a real treat. Not fond of beer and brandy, wine is ok. But I drink for the pleasure not to get drunk.

Me too, hence worth folking out for the good stuff. That being said, I did taste a lot of siff whiskeys across the price range and found some good ones on the lower prices, much like punting, lol. Jonny Black is my regular.

Interesting thread. Sound like alcohol is more diverse than punting. I used to laugh at guys drinking wine or cocktails. Now I sometimes have a nice red and have friends that drink cocktails because they don't like beer.
