Does not make them better or worse than those that have not branded themselves that way it just means they have decided to focus on a segment of the market that appeals to them. And in order to gain entry to that segment you need to put yourself out of reach of those that do not belong to that segment of that market.

It is the same with clothes,shoes, cars, ect almost everything.. It gets labled and marketed a towards a certain section of the market.
