Prostitute: From Latin prostitutus, past participle of prostituo, from pro- ?(“for, before”) +? statuo ?(“to set up, to erect”).

Hooker: Possibly related to hooker as in a "thief, pickpocket" from the 1500s. But the word is likely a reference to prostitutes hooking or snaring clients. Hook as in the in the figurative sense of "attracting of catching is recorded from the 1500s.

Whore: A general term of abuse for an unchaste or lewd woman that does not necessarily involve money. Old German coming from the 1200s. From horinon "to commit adultery"

Maybe we should stay away from English and use the old age roots for the equivalents; Latin carus "dear;" Old Irish cara "friend;" Old Persian kama "desire"

What about Pleasure Provider?

Prostitution is the supply of sexual gratification for monetary rewards. Dont see anybody here doing pro bono visits, so by definition all that advertise here fall under this definition.

By trying to cloak it into a different category is just like being an ostrich. Put your head in the sand and all will be well.
Wake up. We are all adults on this site.

The logical term from "Prostitution" would then be "Prostitute".
Why ever confuse the situation ?

Woke up with a pinge of regret ?

A frog dressed up in a princess's dress and a crown is still just a frog. A prostitute called by any other name is still a prostitute.

The term "hooker" originated from an area in New York City called Corlears Hook, and area flooded with bars and brothels, and frequented mostly by sailors.

By visiting prostitutes, that would make punters complicit in illegal activity.

All the advertisers on this site are Life Experience Consultants. You look, you phone, you go, you experience life. I honestly don't know where this discussion on the P word stems from.

There are quite a number of "endearment terms" that would relate to this, our oldest profession. Some might be "complimentary", some derogatory, some descriptive, some just slang, but all in our daily conversations

Just a few that I am aware of :

Prostitute : That one is covered above.

Hooker : Also explained

Whore : Slang term, more often than not used deraogatory or even in anger , ie you f..king whore

Courtesan : softer terminology and used more for ladies with a little bit of class.

Streetwalkers : Bottom feeders prowling the streets. Usually the bottom end of the market and most probably statistically the most dangerous group of this profession in terms of picking up lasting memories

Working girls : Term used on this site. What would that however make a normal girl working from 9 to 5 ? They are also called working girls.

Ladies of the night : Very few ladies on this site work at night, so the terminology is a little flawed

Massage girls : still a prostitute, you are providing sexual gratification for monetary rewards.

Pavement crawlers : Refer to "streetwalkers" . Same bottom feeders

Corner specials : Refer to "streetwalkers". Lower than the bottom feeders.

And a special one from the Cape Fletse : Gintos : Refer to "whores".

One coined by myself : Drunken whore, used in extreme disappointment

Cheers

Henry VIII ordered the closure of the stews during his reign.
He also passed a law against "buggery", i.e sodomy.

A "stew" is the medieval name for a house of ill-repute, also called a bawdy house in 18th century England.
