Thanks for the advice. I'll ask and fell for my satisfaction. I'll be staying at Patong. Is the Bangla road at Patong area. I pick up from the responses that there are good looking ladyboys and i'll be on the lookout to avoid surprises.

What is the average punting rate of the bar ladies and why is it that you need to pay the bar fine.

Went to a " no hands bar" don't ask me exactly where but you paid fee on entering and you chose your "waitress" - she lifted the drink to your lips, fed you and accompanied you to the urinal - you were not to use your hands !!!!

Been there, seen it all, done many, and for the life of me I cannot fathom that any guy falls for those ladyblokes, they stand out like literal sore thumbs.... however manymany here warn others??
LOL, either they're doubleadaptors in disguise or were SO drunk that basic vision must have been seriously impaired, let alone their hearing.

Hire a CAR there???? No silly, rent a scooter, that way you'll be moving instead of waiting in the traffic jam... it's rather hot remember?

jack14u,
is that bar in Patong/Phuket? If so tell us where, I must have missed that one and it sounds like a lot of fun ;-)

Just a word of caution. Thailand has really friendly people living there, but it has a very dangerous side to it. I missed the street riots in Bangkok where people died in the street I use to walk down past Siam Centre with two days.

The violence relating to their political situation has not really reached Phuket, but what did happen is that the Russians are taking over Phuket's sex trade. A lot of the clubs are now run by Russian gangsters.

I have lately heard a lot of stories re girls on this site wanting to go and teach English in Phuket, and whilst there is a legitimate market for that, please be very aware that a lot of those "opportunities" are just fake. Just think for yourself for a minute. You are a South African Afrikaans speaking girl. English is your second language. And you are not quite fluent in it in any case. You must now go and teach Thai people English literature ? Really ? You think they want you there for your language skills ?

No, they need you there to turn you into a drug using prostitute. You WILL be dead within three to five years. You WILL never see your family again. You WILL wish that you are dead within the first 36 hours, but by then it is too late. You WILL disappear, and the sad part is that it is as a rule the people that has financial constraints that will see this as a golden opportunity to run away from your current fucked up situation. Your family usually is not wealthy, so they WILL not be able to help you.

I have heard this story now twice in the last four months, and both times I have warned the ladies to be careful. But then, who does he think he is ? Sitting with a Rolex on his arm and a monogrammed tailored shirt on his back and spewing out shit about my choices ?

You WILL become a statistic, sadly remembered by your loved ones.

The grass is not always greener on the other side. To go to a different country, ignorant of what is actually happening there, overseas for the first time in your life, is akin to suicide. Just your death will be prolonged, every day you WILL be used and abused by any and all, and for sure not in a nice ambience. You WILL wish you were dead in those rare moments that the drugs offer you some sanity.

But then again, what more can I do ? I warned you. I will come for you, but I don't think I will find you. Even after numerous visits, Thailand still has a violent underbelly unknown to me. For those that has been to Patpong Street to the sex shows, it is but the tip of the iceberg. Sexual degradation and perverseness that is flaunted to the toursim industry is already so so bad that I had to close my eyes.

It gets far far worse.

Think TAKEN and the whore warehouse. That was still nice.

Beware.

Has anyone of you taken or aware of any person that took a beautiful lady from the bar and only to find that she has a tool between her legs when you get to the hotel.

I can imagine the reaction/shock more especialy if you not into the shemales.

Dayumm jack14u, pity, I hunch they've rolled it up :(
Would be a good idea to start it again I think, maybe some retired German will do it, there's a gazillion of them there.

johnd, LOL, live life once bru. There's small bikes too, next time a donut on Bangla road is on my 2Do list ;-) You miss the ease of use though, park a scoot literally anywhere you like, a car's a pain in that respect too. And the rain? They sell these man-sized condoms for peanuts everywhere, just buy one (pink anyone? :) and have a blast, pun(t) intended :))

PeterBucks,
best Tiger Prawns? You ate yourself short pal, for they have the best SEAFOOD - period! But, not in any of the restaurants funnily enough, and these are waayy overpriced anywhere.
Best go to the market just behind the boxing hall, the outdoor market that is (there's an indoor one too, adjacent - not the same!). Huuuge oysters, Crayfish, Rock Lobster, and do not forget the Fish - all kept live, never seen such biiiig things before! You pick your own on the spot. They cook them while you drink a cold beer, then you feast like you've NOT done before, I don't care where you've been before! Oh, yeah, one better enjoy spices, chillies too, their cuisine tastes lively at minimum ;-)
Prices are reasonable (in fact cheap for what you'll get), and the people are utterly friendly. Go there with a girl, you'll have a night to remember!

Chmoks

we usually go to the restaurants up Bangla Road just past Robertsons, where the boxing ring use to be, turn left and walk to the restaurant in the corner. They know us by now, so we still pay low low prices. And the food is really magic. I agree, all seafood there is great. Also like their veggies, and especially the garlic asparagus.

For green curry we go to the restaurants opposite the massive open market. Prices are so cheap and food is great. But the prawns are still my favourite, grilled with garlic butter, and really big.

The only seaside restaurants we go to is for happy hour for cocktails. Nothing better sitting there staring out over the sea and watching the extraordinarily beautiful girls walk past with their clothing almost non existent in the oppressing heat.

Oh yes, and watch the poor unsuspecting male tourists buying the ladyboys drinks. Can only think what will happen later ....

I am now so nostalgic, actually checking flights to Phuket.
