I see nothing wrong with wanting to pay a certain amount upfront, which essentially translates into a deposit.
Over the years, I've had plenty prospective clients make an appointment a month or two in advance, so see it only as a benefit (being that it sets one's mind at ease) and if the client chooses to make two deposits before the date, why not!
Why create a problem, where there is actually none...
