@african_voyage, if you haven't already read it, there's an extensive thread on the summit club under reviews: clubs and venues. Use the search function.
I haven't been there in ages. Yes, the place is seedy and all the rest of it, and yes, you can have tons of fun there. The same can be said for Royal Park. Just use your common sense and don't let them rip you off a la wealthy foreigner with wads of cash.
Having said that, seeing your Dollars go a long way when converted to the local Runts, you can of course try classier establishments as well.
PS If circumstances allowed me, I'd be quite tempted to give you a guided tour. Also to see what it's like these days.

Thank you all for your posts. Clearly this place divides the ESA members. Reading the existing threads it seems like a "I love the sleaze" or "repulsed by the thought and you will be killed" split response.

I'm going to check out the classier establishments as well, but curiosity has gotten the best of me.

I enjoy the sleazy side of places like Tijuana Mexico, and am still very interested in checking this place out.

That said, it's still more fun with a buddy. First two drinks on me now (HA!)

Seriously, lets face it, at Summit and Royal Park the strippers get a max tip of R20. That is just over a dollar. Where in the world will you get pussy in your face for a dollar? At teasers you will pay 15 times more just for a lap dance with some chubby lady.

I have been to summit many times now. It is seedy, but I like that.

In all my visits I have never seen drugs. I'm sure there are there but not in the open. Certainly no needles on beds and paraphernalia. I have never seen pimps. There are foreign people, but from random countries including some Nigerian banker types. I'm sure it's been raided before, but haven't most strip clubs?

Thank you to those who offered constructive responses! Last night I did what many said would get me KILLED... I went to the Summit Club AT NIGHT!!!

Here's my mini trip report:

I was drinking a beer in Rosebank following a good session with an ESA girl. I had a good buzz going on and following some good barstool conversation I decided to take the plunge. At about 11PM I took an Uber to the Summit! The UberX was ZAR 69.00, and I gave 20 to the parking attendant who balked at an Uber showing up to the parking lot. No big deal.

Upon entering I hit up the ATM and paid the cover. Walking inside I was shocked by how packed the club was. Great music and I've never seen a place with so many different shapes and sizes of girls. Upon entering I knew the fears were overblown and that I would be in for a good time.

I hit the bar and before my first beer arrived I locked eyes with a tiny half Greek half Zimbabwe girl. She was 30 but looked more like 25!!! I spent the next hour drinking and getting a barstool lap dance. Shots, more shots, beers, and enjoyed the stage show. After an hour or so of people watching with her I pointed to upstairs, negotiated price, and up we went!

Service was good, and I left with a smile on my face!!!

I was most concerned about the cab ride home given the stories on here, especially since it was 1AM and I was more than a little buzzed. I asked her to help getting a taxi and negotiating a fair rate. She put on a sexy silk robe, walked outside and did just that.

No problem with the driver and I made it back to my hotel safe and sound.

Great experience and a fun night out! My only regret is my hangover this morning!!!
