To be honest and frank; doesn't matter what religion/s are mentioned. It should not be on the forum, leave religion where it is and leave punting where it is.

Matter of fact, I think it best if no religion or religious holidays or feasts/ fasts or whatever it is be mentioned on here.

Religions have been around since, arguably, the Neanderthals. At first it was polytheism, which eventually morphed into monotheism around 2000 years ago. Think about it, we have been around for approximately 50,000 years and yet religion as we know it is only about 2000 years old. Moreover, we had to become monotheistic. You had to believe your God was the greatest. If you don't then it undermines your faith because apparently He is the one that designed everything. You can't share that greatness with another God.

Of course, religion is merely a system that provides order. Without religion we begin to realise that everything is a myth and subject to challenge, as it should be.

As regards religion being a way of life that somehow represents virtue or wholesomeness, that is just nonsense. Religion is responsible for much of the misery mankind has endured over the millenia. Just read the latest book by Steven Pinker to get a clearer understanding on the topic.

As for scientists moving in the direction of believing that there is something unexplained out there that may be religion? Ha ha ha. Show me the evidence. I think that is a fallacy of the illusion of knowledge.

As far as I'm concerned, believe whatever you like, and I'll tolerate it. Just don't expect me to respect it or try to impose your way of life on me.
