I can not believe that you guys are so naive to think that because it is a security complex your car is safe.

Please wake-up and smell the roses. Oh sorry to dissapoint you, you not going to smell roses. You are actually in South Africa. More cars are stolen from complexes than from private homes.

Babe I used the car as a example.

I lived in a complex in the east of PTA and never in 5 years there was any car stolen. And that without security.
It's mostly about OUR safety that I'm looking for something later on.
All I'm wondering is... am I cutting my nose to spite my face or am I still going to be busy?

Complex do create the impression of additional security, but to give my ID for a visit, to be checked at security is a complete no-no.

Esa has just yesterday again warn punters to protect their identity and to remain as anonomus as possible to prevent a possibality of blackmail in future.

@Meg

I stay in a house, 17 years no theft. And to top it all, my neighbour across the road from me is a squatter.

I don't have any problem with signing in or showing my drivers licence. Maybe a false sense of security....but still feels better that leaving my car "unattended".

I did a quick Google search to check your source and only one incident of a car theft in a complex in Kempton Park in 2014 came up. I did a slightly more thorough search looking for statistics. Statistically cars are safer in a complex and that is backed up by insurance, reports etc. Seems to generally depend on the area but still... point is the claim that houses are safer than complexes is not true. It may not be your experience because as you said, 17 years and you haven't had an incident. That could be a combination of your area, keeping your wits about you, security and the type of car you drive. Keep safe everyone :)

When I worked in a complex I never had such issues.

I worked in a establishment in Santon about 3 years ago as the gate was opened for my client 3 guys drove in behind him and robed him and the place.

People have cars stolen from their own homes.

If a criminal wants something he will stop at nothing to get it irrespective of If you are in a secure complex a church or in your own homes.

Just my humble opinion

@Meg

The other thing that you must take into consideration is the number of clients a day.

Depending on that you could be targeted by the body corporation / wifes/ girlfriends of the estate / complex as hooker.

And that opens up another can of worms.

PS. I still have to make an appointment to meet you one day.

Not all complexes asks for your id or driver's license. And the chance of other punters bumping into each other is zero...
