Good evening
In response:
Due to the diversity of the South African nation and the many diverse cultures and languages encapsulated; different areas are known by many different names.
KwaZulu-Natal previously known as Natal also known as:
Zululand.
Natal previously contained KwaZulu.
After 1994 it was renamed to KZN.
As for the meaning of the word natal; according to the Oxford dictionary it is an adjective relating to the place of time of one's birth.
I then have a question to ask: which city in KZN is your natal city?
A most interesting and entertaining observation thank you
ASASH, WillGrey, 786dadzn and josephjoestar.
Love
Caroline

It was named Natal because Da Gama sailed there on Christmas day. Some interesting info Da Gama needed an Arab navigator to find his way to India as the Arabs were the best navigators at the time and had the best maps. The GPS algorithms we use today are based on the calculations they developed.
