There was something different in the air yesterday

It felt the best it has for many years. It was the same sort of feel i felt on 24 Dec, Christmas Eve.

An underlying hope, happiness, joy. A sincere smile, less impatience in malls and on the roads. ..even impatient parents though pushed to the limits were more accepting and tiredly kinder in their reprimand of their kiddies naughty behaviour.

People were looking at people with acknowledgment of each other and smiling.

A keenness to assist and a friendliness in shops and food outlets displayed by staff.

Looking on the road at those piled up mini - busses with wares for family and dear ones... crossing myself , saying a little prayer and wishing them a safe journey, imagining the joy on arrival and the happiness of reunions.

It always reminds me of my younger days and travels over the seas and my mum's and late dad's excitement to once again be with those they missed so much.

A deep inrooted draw to ones own no matter the kindness and acceptance of friends and acquaintances and work associates.. .it was a thing that blood is thicker than water.

And families do live on forever thru generations keeping that lantern burning.

I watched my direct family, extended family and friends and their friends last night.

It was decided there would be no DJ BUT, each and every person would pick a song , when their turn came, and that would be played.

It was awesome. It was telling of the people too.

I loved. I reveled...I learnt so much more about those I thought I knew and went into the NEW YEAR surrounded by people just as hopeful as I, joyously happy and keen to take the bull by the horns and make 2023 the best it can be.

It was a special NEW Year Eve...something there that has been missing for a while...a new hope, a revelation that our lives are ours to make the most of.



We were really merry , happy merry...and this morning my home was still full of lingering guests that have eventually made their way home after a hearty breakfast and even greater affirmation that 2023 SHALL be an awesome year!
