A large majority of people in this country consider her as the mother of the nation. And rightly so for the pivotal role she played in making the lives of many of them infinitely better. I know some people don't care for her because freedom made they're lives a little less comfortable and a little less privileged. If you don't consider her as the mother of YOUR nation. That's fine, but you are the major minority there and this isn't your nation anymore anyway.
So in the words of another strong black woman;'if you want to leave, there's the door, you can step' or more like 'if you want to leave, Australia wants you, FUCK OFF!'

Such a delight. It must be racism that stops girls seeing you and nothing to do with an off putting attitude. I have seen the light!

I think we can accept that we all have multiple sides to our lives. Especially on this forum where devoted "family men" expose all those other sides to their lives.

Mama Winnie was not perfect. She certainly made mistakes! However I think those mistakes related to the circumstances both she and the country found themselves in at the time.

All these labels describing a personality disorder (like calling her a psychopath) are a legacy of the Apartheid smear campaign. We do ourselves a disservice in repeating them (certainly not when those providing the empty echo chamber for those insults clearly have no understanding what they really mean).

I have never been a fan of hers, but I will always respect her for what she endured and the grace and dignity with which she came through it. However there will also be a footnote recognizing her abuse / misuse of power that led to deaths, money going missing etc.
