In this industry when you try and accommodate punter's, all to often they end up abusing our good nature and then push the boundaries and take advantage. By either overstaying their welcome, and I am not talking about 15 minutes over the time, but staying for 2 hours and paying for 1 hour. Or they short pay you? Or start asking for a booking and promising to pay at the end of the month. Then you have to beg and plead to get him to pay you for services you have already rendered.

Sorry, I have not put my rates up in 3 years. But I certainly won't be dropping them either. Instead, I have found another job to supplement my income.

Perhaps punter's should get a second job to afford their punting habits.

Wanting SPs to lower their prices because of the economy so we can still have luxury "fun" times is the same as you boss/manager telling you he is cutting you paycheck by x% because of tough economic times, but still expect the same or even more output...

I agree with Ari and the rest of the ladies on this one.
The other factor is ...Say you are a MG or a WG working from venues....the ladies needs to pay the venues for the use of the goods.
It's even more expensive to run your own place... ask me I've done both you carrying all the financial responsibilities and more to entertain clients.
We pay our way it doesn't matter how you look at things.

Where you as tax payers have all the pros and cons let me explain our way of living.

1 You can walk into any place and get a account.
1.1. We need to have reference to prove our way of income.
2. You can rent or buy a house on your NAME
2.1 We need to lie about our jobs and create a smokescreen just to rent a place.
3. You go to the doctor and you sick... your doctor doesn't ask you what job do you do....
3.1We get sick (if lucky and excepted by any medical aid)
We being judged before we even sit down to ask the doctor for help.
4. Insurance
4.1 we lie about what we do (once again)
5. Easy to open a bank account if you have job reference
5.1 Just to tri and open a bank account is another story all together.

Ladies feel welcome to add to this list.., I know of a lot of things we can't do just because we in this industry.
Years ago it would have been profitable...but now we hardly survive.
If lucky one see one client a day.
There are to many girls to choose from and the industry has expanded.
So tell me how do you think 1 booking a week will pay all our expenses?

You don't see me come into your workplace and demand a discount in a time of crisis....( need)

I agree with you @Meg, let's say you working from a private house (not your own) or venue and you have 1 client a week. That money doesn't go straight to your pocket. You need to pay your house fees and levy fees. So if that is your only booking for the week, that amount of money needs to cover what? How does one survive? Say you lowered your fee or even ran a special. You shooting yourself in the foot. You cannot allow that. You need to have a reasonable fee and after paying your house fees and levy, there should be something left to do with

Like @MrShyGuy said too how would you feel if you boss had to cut your paycheque due to the economical downfall

Almost R16 for a litre of petrol, R12.60 to the dollar, Water and Electricity up, VAT up, Income Tax up...

Here is some advice Deee340

Almost R16 for a litre of petrol: buy a motorbike/scooter & save money on petrol.
R12.60 to the dollar: Stop buying from overseas
Water up: It's not always necessary to water your grass in winter, it will grow again in Spring.
...and Electricity: buy a geyser blanket and timer switch.
VAT up: not sure how you can overcome this.
Income Tax: Just as they screw you every month, screw them back when it comes to tax returns.

Use it or don't use it - the cholce is yours.

Supply and demand will dictate.

No need to tell the ladies to lower their prices.

A lower demand will eventually push the unproductive out of the very competitive market anyway . . .

I'm afraid to say that this is just the beginning.

We are up for another downgrade; the realities of state capture are now starting to impact at grassroots levels.

The failure of governance in SA is going to affect us all.

Cheapskates... Please never what's app me, call me or PM me... if you can't afford me... move a fuck along... it's not to difficult is it?

Now that we have a healthy debate going consider this...if punters do what you suggest above it consequently leads to your situation you described earlier of having a low levels of business.

Not to offend anyone but the economic laws of supply and demand is universal whether you are a Surgeon or a WG. Reduced demand leads ultimately to reduced prices.

I am just debating this openly and freely and do not consider myself as a 'cheapskate' as i have never negotiated on the stated price and tip generously.

everyones complanining about costs nobody is coming up with solutions to make more money? alternative businesses that serve people irrespective of economic cycles

irrespective of what people do for a living thre needs to be some thought in starting something else, be it online or service, and with uncertainty around us its foolish to think any form of income is a security even a job , therefore at minimum keep 6 months expenses saved up. and budget smartly pay yourselves in a secondary bank account every month after few months you have a little forced savings for yourself.

buying houses as a friend did few months ago wasnt wise now income has decreased but mortgage still remains and maintenance starts...plan ahead what ever you earn, do, or provide .

its not wise to tell someone lower their felt worth naturally they will be anti this, alow nature to force them to be creative ie specials discounts on certain days etc possibly even charging extra for selected unique extras, which ever works for each individual just lke a store owner would do based on evaluation of themselves and where some guys complain about punting costs thre are guys have double that to play with. money doesnt vanish it merely transfers hands so be smart and creative.

hope somethng here helps some of you
