The subtext I'm referring to is the fact that many punters are not in a position to adjust their salary, so the pinch comes from 2 sides: income stays the same (if you are lucky to retain work), living expenses go up and the result is that it is indeed as simple as "stop what you can't afford".
So ask what you want to ask, but just as you need to respect the rights of the provider, do not look down on the punter who can no longer afford his hobby. He knows he has to adjust. He notices declining interactions as his visit frequency changes. Downward adjustment is not fun for anybody.

not to mention that there is always someone available who'll meet your budget - just will naturally mean having to compromise on certain things. but i reiterate the aforementioned as well; an SP has every right to adjust her rate as needed to meet her expenses - if you want her (specifically) you'll have to be willing to pay the rate she charges, or simply look elsewhere

I've found that girls in any bracket, R800 - R4500, generally either act like they're doing you a favour, or the attitude is just really disrespectful. The change in attitude happened sometime early last year.
Is it all SP's? Obviously not, but it's enough that there have been numerous topics about prices.
If the service matches the price, then people would not mind paying and they would not complain.
