And I thought just our race issues in SA where enough of a problem!!

Very interesting, thanks guys.

I can tell you that when wit ous, bruin ous, and swart ous call us the "c" word it doesnt bother us becoz we have more than enough intra Indian community differences, grudges and squabbles to keep us busy.

And then there's the Durban/JHB thing.... Where I live there's always that ' thats Durban indians for you'; 'you can see they from DBN', 'Dbn Indians all so forward'.....and the Dbn guys say the exact same about Jhb Indians. Then yesterday a coloured friend wants to order curry and rice. So she phones the place and asks ' are you Dbn indians or JHB Indian'. She doesn't like Jhb Indians' curry. I couldn't believe my ears. So I said I'll take her to DBN Indians for curry.....meanwhile its Jhb Indians and she ENJOYED the curry. Ai, the politics and sub-politics in our society.

I am Indian and even I am being schooled here OMFG all I know is I am a SA DBN Indian 3rd generation
What really bites me though is that most comedians/non Indians seem to think that all Indians speak with an accent and shake their heads when infact some of us speak better english than the english themselves haha Madhirs!

Nadia nice point but in this instance I can explain. Dbn indians curry even ex durban indians way different to jhb indians. Also I think its not fair to discrimimate between dbn and jhb indians everyone should be judged on their individual personality. I maybe shot down for this bu mostt dbn indians are more friendly and outgoing than most jhb indians who are more house orientated and less outgoing. This is from observations from indians that I know well and a personal observation.

Kameshang, there is NO difference between DBN and JHB indians, Not anything significant enough anyway. The very things people judge in the one lot is the very things they themselves are guilty of. And as to whose curry is better.....its purely a matter of taste.

But some KZN charous have some hectic accents. Especially the ones from Harrismith. Jhb charous can spot Dbn and Cape charous a mile away. The PE charous i often mistake for coloreds.

Best curry is one Cape friends mother who lives in Rylands. Lekke chicken curry and rice.

I know in Pta Laudium some wealthy Memons the wives never cook but they buy food from some Kokni auntie. But i can tell you I love Memon wedding akni. Their akni they make for weddings taste awesome. Us surti's like our kirri-kitchri

Yes indeed.

Saturday lunch is Kirri Kichree.
With the usual delicious accompaniments of course.
Paapur, aloo fry, and bhajee.
Loads of thick Kirree spooned over Paapur, aloo fry, and bhajee and basmati rice.
Not only Surti's like Karri Kitchri.

Ukha Bhai and the denizens of Diagonal street also love it.

Then to add to the curry pot is the IP's (the India papas) and Pakistanis they are again different and have come recently from India and Pakistan. Their accents and dress sense can be spotted from a mile. Also generalsing but they are the discount walas. Anyways most Indian guys are cool and pretty jolly.
