Oraljim, you nailed it. This ongoing stigma against prostitution is a bullshit stuck up outdated concept. When will we be rid of it?

Short answer .....Call centre agent, heres why.

- takes calls from clients
- sells a service
- can perform the service standing up, lying down or sitting.
- works shift hours
- QA feedback to rate her service and keep her in line.
- sometimes has a boss that moans because shes not meeting business targets i.e.venue owner.

The best is that she puts her personal phone off during working hours because you arent allowed to take or make personal calls in the workspace so no prying calls from mom about 'hows work going dear'....how brilliant is that ??? 😆

You are conflating two completely separate issues. On the one hand there is privacy / anonymity on a public internet site. On the other there is hiding the fact that I punt from friends, family, and other people in my life. All of my friends and family and sometimes even random strangers I have conversations with know I punt. I am very open and honest about it. That does not mean that I should expose my real name on a public forum. Any more than I do on, say, the World of Warcraft forums or the Adobe Users Group, and I assure you I am not ashamed of playing either WoW nor of using Photoshop. Me stating my real name on a public forum does nothing to destigmatise the industry, it is just internet suicide. And I think you know that.

But I also agree with Longjohn. I'm friends with a lady who has lost custody of her kids because of how she earns a living... The price of telling the truth. Destigmatisation would be just what is needed in her case. But things being as they are, I doubt most working-girl moms CAN tell the truth. Good for those who can and have done so. I don't have kids but I still can't go around broadcasting it. We don't live in isolation and what we do or say affects other people as well. Some of my friends know what I do and some don't. We just never talk about it. I cannot say on this forum what I tell people I do because it IS true. I do that in addition to sexwork.
