It's just about a balance. Love and discipline, it's really simple. Few minutes after the news paper, call them closer. They'll be scared, but the caring voice would make them come. It would take around, 5 seconds for pups to go back into happy mode again once they seen you've forgiven them.
But in the end of the day, peeps that gets dog's just for protection, or what ever, should rather invest in an alarm system. You gotta love dogs to understand them! Or things would be going wrong...
