Two and a half years back I had some spare cash and was thinking about buying an AMG63 or AudiRS6. I then found out that these things depreciate like shit as they are mass produced. I bought a 1989 Ferrari 328 instead for R750,000. The car is now worth Pounds 85,000 or R2million and still climbing becuz they only made 7000 and plenty have been crashed by young rich kids. One and a half years back I bought a 1982 Porsche 930 for R800,000. The car is worth Pounds65,000 or R1.6million. Repair bills have come to R20,000 on the Ferrari (nee water pump, new windscreen and rubber seals etc). For the Porsche R90,000 for a complete engine Nd turbo overhaul. I have dealers from UK wanting to buy the cars for export. I'm still smiling becuz I'm enjoying them and I'm not loosing any money in them. Almost better than having a girlfriend.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer but I'm careful with my money. I read classic car magazines to try as they give u advise on cars are about to rise in value. A lot of young people borrow from the bank to buy a AMG or M series only to see it sold a few years later for a hefty discount. These things are mass produced! The bank is laughing and u are crying.

There have to be stupid people who borrow money to buy these mass produced expensive cars to enable manufactures to develop cars like "Ferrari & Porsche" for the more clever people to buy.
You still have to be well off to pay R25K or more on a car a month.
