Home affairs is broke, busted and disgusted.
Makes me feel dirty and disoriented like a third day drunk....

There are helpful boontoos that will stand in ques for you etc, they get the job done at min fee...

Photos, hahaha. Oh yeah you might need to be present for that memory... :)

Dear Madam

We have received a user complaint requesting clarity on what you mean by the word "boontoos" kindly assist?

Did you mean, "bantus" ?

Kind regards

Kindly grant me your ear as to the meaning of the word : BOONTOOS

My staff use the term extensively when they have to renew licenses at the Licensing Department, be it the Post Office or at the municipality.

The term refer to the "runners" that will, for a fee, take your license papers, which you have completed, and go and stand in those endless lines that we have now so become use to.

The fee that they pay to these guys are much less than the hours that they waste standing in the lines themselves, so it is really an optimization of my workforce.

The term also did sound strange to me at first, and at first I thought it was DOONTOOS, but then after I went with my staff one day, I saw that it is most definitely not raciallly motivated, as the boontoo that did my license in Centurion was a white girl of about 50 years old, who told me she was a former employee at the licensing department.

Best R 300-00 I ever spent. She sms me about three hours later and I collected my license without problems.

So the term boontoo would then probably be in the urban dictionary. Pretty sure that at SARS there are also Boontoos and also at Home Affairs.

From what I read on the forum, maybe not everybody can afford to employ a boontoo, so that might be the reason for the ignorance.

Hoping that explains it? Certainly common language in my profession.

Cheers
Zama

This fraternity of queue-ers come to Home Affairs or The Post Office with a pile of applications, which is bad for us single applicants.

We wait endlessly for one queue-er to finish his/her business.

My Darling Zama:
Your use of the term MADAM reminds me of a common saying in West Africa.
Indulge me in some background information - In that part of the world public nudity is viewed as a sign of madness .
With the above in mind the saying goes " If a mad person steals your clothes and you run after them naked how will anyone know who is the mad person"
